People today make a difficult to make the decision between choosing a laptop over a desktop. Both of them may seem very similar, but they are completely different. The purpose of this essay is to compare and contrast the differences of desktops and laptop computers in terms of convenience, performance, maintenance, and cost.
As we all know, desktops are not very portable due to the fact of the many wires and cables that need to be connected to the computer. The speakers, keyboard, and the mouse are built right into the laptop, so you won’t have to hassle with the clutter of cables. The laptop is very portable, it is great for traveling, college, or just surfing the internet while watching TV on your couch. With the desktop you are secluded to just one area of your house.
The performance in a desktop and a laptop also have many differences. The desktop is capable of having better parts inside them, which allows them to have better graphics. They are suitable for hardcore gaming. All the components of a computer are much better for the desktop; with a laptop you have many limits. A laptop can handle some games, but nothing like the desktop can. Its battery is also limited and easily overheats in just a short time, unlike the desktop which does not overheat as easily unless you keep it turned on for a very long time without turning it off.
Maintenance is a big factor in choosing what type of computer you will be good for you. A desktop is very customizable. You can easily choose what type of components you put into them, and how powerful the computer will be. On the other hand, a laptop is always sold as a whole. It is also difficult to upgrade. The parts are small and very expensive, you also have to know what you are doing or else you could damage the whole computer. If a laptop is damaged, you will need to replace it as a whole and you are lucky if it is still under warranty. But if a desktop gets damaged, you can just replace the parts of it that have...
